What motivated you to start your weight loss journey?
I have always had an on and off battle with weight and my journey in fitness. After having my son 12 years after my daughter in 2020, I lost all the baby weight and then gained it all back. I was at my heaviest at 156. Unfortunately, on Mothers day in 2021, my 10 year relationship with my partner ending was the true motivation for me. I was going through such a struggle mentally and physically. I did not feel happy when I looked in the mirror. I did not like how I felt in my clothes. I was just at the point where I wanted to change my habits for my children, my new single life and I wanted to fall in love with myself again.
How long have you been taking Boombod and which flavors have you tried?
I first tried Boombod in April of 2021. I have tried the (Blackcurrant) (Orange Mango) & (Lemon Lime). They are all so good but I think my favourite now is Orange Mango.
Do you have an exercise routine? How often do you do it?
I try to wake up at 6:30 AM, have my coffee and a good full body stretch as I fill out my morning journal. By 7 AM, I do a 30 minute workout depending on what my focus of fitness is for that day of the week. I do an afterwork workout at 5 PM, usually an hour with weights. I work out 6 days a week, and rest on Sunday.
What does a day in your life look like?
I am a full time single mom of 2. I work full time from home, as well. So my day is fully packed, but I make sure to give some time to myself. I have my Boombod at 10 AM, 3 PM and the last one at 8 PM when my cravings usually are high. At night, when all I want is chocolate and chips, I take my Boombod shot, jump in the shower, so I am distracted from grabbing those snacks. I let the Boombod do its thing and when I'm out of the shower, I am not looking for those unhealthy snacks. If I have the energy after my kids are sleeping I will practice the other goals I want to achieve like splits, roller skating, jump rope and pull ups.
What are some high-fiber foods you incorporate alongside your Boombod program?
I am a Pescatarian so I eat a lot of fish and seafood. I usually have Salmon, shrimp or scallops with my meals. I usually like to prepare meals for the week. It makes my day a lot easier when I just have to worry about making meals for my children. Mornings, I have my overnight oats with honey and strawberries. Lunch is usually my heaviest, salmon or shrimp wraps with sautéed garlic, onions and grape tomatoes. I snack on fruit throughout the day, mostly watermelon, peaches and mangoes. I love yogurt as a work snack, sometimes I will add chocolate chips or fresh fruit in it. For dinner, I try to eat light, with a salmon salad, sushi and or oven baked veggies. I also love breaded cauliflower and brussel sprouts with hot sauce. If my cravings come on, I have chocolate dipped strawberries or Halo ice cream.
What are some of your favourite healthy summer foods?
Watermelon is my go to for my favourite summer food. Mozzarella, grape tomatoes, and cucumber salad drizzled with oil and basil.
What keeps you motivated?
My children keep me motivated the most. I do not want to be that parent that cannot keep up with their kids at the park. I want to be that parent who can race their 14 year old if she puts you up to the challenge. I want to be able to enjoy hiking and running around with them without feeling fatigued or cutting park time early because I'm tired. I want to have the energy and strength to carry them if they get injured. I want to be able to lift my own body weight, as well. That is one of my true goals right now and why I started to practice pull-ups, which are extremely hard.
How are you feeling health wise after losing weight?
Health wise, I feel so much better. I am able to do a lot more and give my all through my workouts. I am no longer trying to just make it through them, but I look forward to working out now.
Any advice for people who are thinking about starting their weight loss journey with Boombod?
Just do it! Coming from someone who is picky with flavors and trying new things to add to my day, the flavors are amazing! It is quick, easy and not messy at all. I have never had a bad reaction or felt sick after taking Boombod.
